How to cancel a subscription
In this help article, we'll show you how to cancel your customers' subscriptions.
You can cancel your customers' subscriptions anytime. Your customers won't be charged on their next billing period and will no longer be required to pay recurring payments.
Please note that Stripe charges transaction fees.
Cancel a customer's subscription
To cancel your customer's subscription, please follow the steps below:
- Click on Orders from the left-side menu
- Select Subscriptions from the expanded Orders menu
- Select the subscription in question
4. You'll be taken to the customer's subscription overview
5. Click Cancel subscription from the right-side menu
6. You'll be shown a pop-up to enter the cancellation details
7. State your reason for the cancellation. This will not be shown to your customers and is for internal records only.
8. Select for the subscription to be canceled, either:
- Immediately
- At the end of the current period
- Or on a custom date of your choosing
9. Enable for a Cancellation email to be sent to the customer or disable the feature for no email to be sent
10. Click Cancel subscription!
Canceled subscription status
When canceled, the canceled subscription will now be stated in your reports as Canceled.
The reason for the cancellation will also be present.
You can also see the date for when the subscription is cancelled.
Cancellation email
When a subscription is canceled and if you enabled for the Cancellation email to be sent, the customer will receive an email notifying them of the subscription cancellation.
Under the Emails tab, you will see a new line appear at the top that records a progress log of the sent Cancellation email.
You can click View email on the log to see how the email would appear to your customers.
Customers can manage their subscription from the Cancellation email, which will take them to the Customer portal.
